About Majlisul Ulama Norway
Majlisul Ulama Norway is the conflict resolution council of Ahle Sunnah wal Jama'ah for cases related to Talaq, Khula, and annulment of marriage.
We handle such applications in accordance with the Qur’an and Sunnah and have been working with these cases for over 15 years.
Our Role and Responsibilities
Majlisul Ulama Norway (MUN) is a private organization that assists Muslim women who have obtained a legal divorce from Statsforvalteren, but whose husband refuses to grant an Islamic divorce (Talaq). This leaves the woman trapped in a marriage she does not wish to remain in.
The same applies to women who have had only a religious Nikah without registering their marriage with Norwegian authorities. If they wish to separate but their husband refuses to grant Talaq, they are left in a difficult situation. Islam strictly prohibits leaving a woman in such a suspended state.
To address this issue, MUN has been assisting women for over 15 years.
Why is there an Application Fee?
We have observed that many women submit their cases impulsively after an argument with their husband, and later withdraw them when the situation calms down.
In other cases, the Khula or Nikah annulment process has already begun, but the woman changes her mind, leading to undesirable situations and delays.
To ensure that only those who genuinely seek assistance submit their cases, we have established a non-refundable application fee of 5000 NOK.
Case Processing Procedure
- Application Submission: MUN receives the application form from the affected party requesting assistance based on Islamic theology.
- Document Verification and Payment: MUN reviews the case and, if necessary, requests additional relevant documents. The one-time fee of 5000 NOK must be paid via bank transfer or Vipps.
- Communication with the Opposing Party: MUN sends three letters to the opposing party. A copy of these letters is sent to the applicant.
- Board Meeting and Decision: If the case remains unresolved after the three letters, the MUN board convenes to review the details and issue a final decision.
Important Rules
- Case processing will not start until payment is received (either the full amount or the first installment).
- No final decision will be issued until the full amount has been paid.
- The applicant must provide complete details of the opposing party, allowing MUN to contact him and notify him of the decision.
- If the applicant fails to provide full details of the opposing party, the case will be rejected until all required information is submitted.
Confidentiality
We uphold strict confidentiality in all cases submitted to us.
